Caper Collective

We caper, we play, we adventure, we resist.

Who We Are

Krissa Lagos, Aleo Landeta, and Caroline Mar are three mixed-heritage queer creators living in the San Francisco Bay Area. Based on our friendships and values, we decided to join forces and skills as a collective in 2020. Caper Collective exists to make beautiful narratives that increase diversity in children’s books.

We caper, we play, we adventure, we resist.

Shahan’s Recipe

In this yet-to-be-published manuscript, readers will follow Shahan through a day of visiting and learning to cook with family members biological and chosen, Spanish- and English-speaking, LGBTQ and straight. Targeting readers aged 4-8—an age at which many children are curious about cooking and want to help out in the kitchen—it will include kid-friendly recipes at the end of the book so families can continue their culinary journey off the page!

ACAB for Toddlers

It’s never too young to teach the children that yes, all cops are… bullies. Gives the babies a framework for challenging assumptions about who the police serve and how, instead, we can keep ourselves safe through community, collaboration, and care.
